About Us

Established by two Occupational Therapists with an extensive background of practice within community learning disabilty services, Steps to Independence Ltd is a modern, creative and innovative support provider for adults with learning disabilities.

We provide support services to people in their own homes and communities through packages of support which may range from just a handful of hours each week up to 24 hours each day.

Our aim is to promote the health, wellbeing and independence of each person we support by helping them to acquire, re-acquire and maintain skills, in line with their agreed outcomes and individual needs.

We work openly, honestly and collaboratively with local commissioners, and health and social care practitioners to ensure each person we support receives the correct level of support to meet their needs. In some cases, this may help facilitate a reduction in the number of support hours required to meet a person’s needs in the long term, ensuring our services are the most cost effective option available.

Steps to Independence supported living service offers adults with a learning disability the opportunity to live independently in their own home or to share with others with whom they are compatible.

Our community support service provides adults with a learning disability the support they need to access the community in order to engage in work, educational, social and leisure activities of their choice.
At Steps to Independence Occupational therapy plays a critical role in helping people of all ages to overcome the effects of disability caused by illness, ageing or accident so that they can carry out their everyday tasks or occupations.
